Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 July 2026
Paperluna is built around a simple idea: reading is private. The application collects nothing about you. This page explains that in full, and is transparent about the limited analytics used on this website.
The app collects no personal data
The Paperluna desktop application (Windows, macOS, Linux) contains no ads and no trackers. Your library, bookmarks, annotations, reading position and settings are stored only on your device. We do not have servers that receive your reading data, and we never sell or share it — because we never receive it in the first place.
The one exception is a single, fully anonymous install count: the first time the app runs, it sends one event so we can gauge how many people installed Paperluna. It carries only the app version and coarse operating-system info, uses a random one-time identifier (never a device, hardware or account ID), and has geo/IP lookup disabled. It contains nothing that identifies you, is sent only once, and is never tied to your reading.
This website
The website you are reading (the download and information pages) uses a small amount of analytics to understand how many people discover and download Paperluna. This helps us decide where to spend effort. The tools below are used only on the website — never inside the app.
Meta (Facebook) Pixel
When you arrive from a Meta (Facebook/Instagram) advertising link, the page may load the Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of that ad. It records anonymous events such as a page view and a Lead event when a download button is clicked. The pixel is only initialized when an advertising campaign identifier is present in the page URL; if you visit the site directly, no pixel is initialized.
Data processed by the pixel is governed by Meta's Privacy Policy. You can control ad tracking through your Meta account settings and your browser.
PostHog (product analytics)
We use PostHog to collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics for the website — for example page views and download clicks. This tells us how the site performs without identifying you personally. PostHog's processing is governed by PostHog's Privacy Policy.
What we do not do
- We do not collect your name, email or account details on this site.
- We do not read, upload or analyze the books you open in the app.
- We do not sell your data to anyone.
Cookies
The analytics tools above may set cookies or use similar browser storage strictly to measure visits and downloads. You can block or delete these at any time in your browser settings; the site and the app continue to work without them.
Your choices
You can use an ad/tracker blocker, decline cookies, or use your browser's privacy features — none of this affects your ability to download or use Paperluna. The application itself never depends on any of these services.
